School kids take up race challenge
Winner: Overall year 5 winner from KingsWay School, Zac Robertson, won a bike
donated and presented by Luke Haitoua from BikeMe in Orewa.
Race start: Year 4 to 6 students started their duathlon around Orewa at 9am.
About 150 students lined their bikes
up and tied their laces on Saturday
for a duathlon organised by Kings-

Race organiser Vanessa Gatman
says the event was to celebrate com-
munity and get children involved in
a challenge they could complete.
It was moving to see so many
kids wearing their school colours
with pride and to watch them finish
the race with a sense of accomplish-
ment, Vanessa says.
